aves with management committees or controlled by clubs or individuals

A number of caves are kept locked for various reasons including the conservation of their geology and protected species such as bats which may be present at various times of the year. Follow the cave management or club contacts in the site list below. In a few cases in the Forest of Dean, an individual controls access. Some caves have a leader system where either you approach a leader from a published list or the cave management committee will find a leader to help you. Groups staying at Whitewalls may borrow the Agen Allwedd and Ogof Craig a Ffynnon (OCAF) loan keys held there - contact Adrian Fawcett (adrianfawcett@outlook.com) or ask the CSS cottage warden when making your booking. Unfortunately it is not possible to make these keys available for day visitors. Otherwise, keys can be obtained for day loan from: Malcolm Reid (Blaina) - 07833 516732 cliomfr@gmail.com Barry Burn (Brynmawr) - barryburn61@gmail.com Stuart France (Tretower) - 07740 871845 ccc@linetop.co.uk Clubs visiting these caves several times a year are invited to apply for permanent loan keys.
